Reading I
[6] Remember that the person who sows few seeds will have a small crop; the one who sows many seeds will have a large crop.
[7] You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly.
[8] And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.
[9] As the scripture says: “He gives generously to the needy; his kindness lasts for ever.”
[10] And God, who supplies seed to sow and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity.
[11] He will always make you rich enough to be generous at all times, so that many will thank God for your gifts which they receive from us.
Responsorial Psalm
R. (1b) Blessed the man who fears the Lord.
Blessed the man who fears the LORD,
who greatly delights in his commands.
His posterity shall be mighty upon the earth;
the upright generation shall be blessed.
R. Blessed the man who fears the Lord.
Wealth and riches shall be in his house;
his generosity shall endure forever.
Light shines through the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious and merciful and just.
R. Blessed the man who fears the Lord.
Lavishly he gives to the poor;
his generosity shall endure forever;
his horn shall be exalted in glory.
R. Blessed the man who fears the Lord.
Alleluia
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him
and we will come to him.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
[1] “Be [very] careful not to do your good deeds publicly, to be seen by men; otherwise you will have no reward [prepared and awaiting you] with your Father who is in heaven.
[2] “So when you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it, as the hypocrites do in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do it so that people will praise them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.
[3] But when you help a needy person, do it in such a way that even your closest friend will not know about it.
[4] Then it will be a private matter. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
[5] “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so that everyone will see them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.
[6] But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
[16] “And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.
[17] When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair,
[18] so that others cannot know that you are fasting — only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
Dearest Father,
Thank You for providing me with the seeds of abundance I need to sow and for making these grow and produce a rich harvest to enjoy and share. As written in the First Reading today.
2 Corinthians 9:10 GNBDK
[10] And God, who supplies seed to sow and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity.
Now that I'm into urban gardening, I realized how abundant the Lord God made the earth.
I stumbled upon this video titled Back to Eden Gardening. I was so blessed with it that I'm going to share it with you here.
It talked about how God intended the earth to be a self-sustaining, never-ending, limitless source of bountiful resource for men.
And it's true.
I'm beginning to realize how the earth is so rich with resources that if we just learn to make use of them wisely, we will never go hungry again.
We eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables with seeds that can produce a harvest to countless others of the same kind! Others we can even grow from the scraps we eat. Yet we just throw them away!
Organic wastes can turn into compost, what they call “black gold”, cause they could help grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables abundantly. And we have a lot of those kitchen wastes that we just throw away into the garbage!
And soaking this compost in water provides compost tea, a natural liquid fertilizer for plants and vegetables. Or just catching the liquid that falls down from your compost bin with another container.
Leaves that fall from trees everywhere can help become mulch for the ground to be fertile again.
Now that I want to bake sourdough breads again, which I started learning during the pandemic, so that I never have to buy bread ever, I remembered I can just make a natural starter yeast from the bacteria and microbes in the air with just water and flour, making breads taste flavorful without any enhancements, which I really liked eating before.
I just stopped baking cause I got tired. Now I'm itching to get back to it again. What with how expensive breads have become! The Lord just reminded me that He didn’t teach me that skill for me to forget it. I can bake every Sunday to have home-made breads for the rest of the week.
Here's how to make a very easy, no-discard sourdough starter if you want to make one with me.
Here’s mine. I just made it today, first day. I named her GRACE. And yes, you guessed it - God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. She will help me make lots and lots of yummy breads in the future without spending too much!
Ever since I can remember, we've always bought the things we've eaten - from fruits, vegetables, spices, breads - everything!
My mama, of course, has a garden with potted plants, cause we have no land, but she grows ornamental plants so nothing to eat there. Though they are a feast for the eyes.
Oh, I remember when we transferred to our new place which still doesn't have enough land to grow things, my papa, before he passed away, planted Philippine limes, what we call “kalamansi” outside our gates and we got to enjoy that, as well as all passers-by, before they all got uprooted with our road widening. So that's a bummer.
He also planted a fruit tree, Atis, or I just found out, thanks to Google - Sugar Apple - that I really like, probably one of my favorite fruits.
We enjoyed that for a while until it naturally died. But then my mama scattered some seeds on a small plot of land that we have in the front yard, and now a young tree is growing again. So looking forward to bountiful harvests of Atis in the future. 😍
I'm also saving up to build an aquaponics system to grow tilapias in a 1000L tank. I'm so looking forward to just catching yummy tilapia fish in that tank for our food.
God has always provided us seeds to sow. And food to eat. And He will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.
A few days ago, I checked on the watermelon seeds that I saved in a plastic cup and put outside to dry up, only to find out they got molds cause I failed to air them out. What a bummer!
But then last night, my sister-in-law came and gave us mangoes and a watermelon. Wow! Now I can save watermelon seeds again. God has provided my watermelon seeds with the fruit to enjoy to boot!
We enjoyed the mangoes for dinner and they were so sweet! It's just a pity that we don't have land where we can plant the seeds from the mangoes we ate.
Now I have another desire I can add to my bucket list.
Father, I want a farm land so that I can plant all my favorite fruits trees and vegetables from the seeds You have given me.
Because now that I'm aware of the potential of every seed, I've been saving these seeds from the fruits and vegetables I ate.
I can dry them up and save them in a paper envelope until God gave me my land.
I'll take these as tokens that You have given me, Father, for my future farmland. I receive it and thank You for it even now in faith, in Jesus’ Name!
My family has been laughing at me for saving those seeds knowing we don't have land. They said I better work my ass off so I can save up and buy myself some farmland.
Well, I'm taking them up on their suggestion seriously. But instead of hustling for it and working my butt off at work, I'll claim for it, in faith, from my Father, Who promised to give me more than I need so that I can have all my needs and even wants, and more than enough for every good cause. This is a good cause, isn’t it?
2 Corinthians 9:8, 10 GNBDK
[8] And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.
[10] And God, who supplies seed to sow and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity.
He had already supplied me with the seeds, He will surely give me the land with which to plant them in, if I just ask. So now I'm asking.
Thank You, Father! As of today, June 18, 2025, Wednesday, at 7:41 am, I receive my farmland. As vast as You have prepared for me, Father. Thank You so much! You're the best Father in the world!
2 Corinthians 9:10 GW
[10] God gives seed to the farmer and food to those who need to eat. God will also give you seed and multiply it. In your lives he will increase the things you do that have his approval.
As I woke up from a nap earlier and was ready to wash our dishes, which I use as my learning time, I got ready to watch a YouTube video. God gave me this video which reminded me that we also have to take care of the garden of our minds and subconscious, minding what seeds of thoughts we are planting every day.
Proverbs 4:23 GNT
Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.
God has already given us seeds of abundance.
Are you planting and nurturing these seeds of abundance until God brings about a bountiful harvest for you as He promised?
